Dolores (Lola) Huerta is a civil right activist and labor leader. This is a story written by Jennifer Torres and inspired by Lola's childhood. Mom runs The Delano Hotel where workers find a nice room and a warm welcome. And where Lola or "Lolita siete lenguas" like grandpa calls her, spends her days helping and speaking out when she witnesses injustices!
"¡Si se puede!"
Coming this August 2022. Starred review by School Library Journal and my first book with Little Brown.
This was a book that demanded a lot of visual research. I had fun looking at all the old pictures of Stockton CA and as many pictures I could find of Ms. Huerta.
